Having been a student of numerology since 2005, I enjoy it as a dynamic subject. The impact of numbers is great in its depth and width. There is so much to numbers that a student can delve into that learning continues as one observes their works through life. Personally, each number experience births a new learning point for more learning and knowledge.
Prior to that, I was never exposed to the intricacy and mystic of numbers. Numbers were simply part of numeracy. But, if there were any mystic surrounding any of them, the number ‘4’ would certainly spring to mind. Common among the Chinese in Southeast Asia, the number ‘4’ is taboo. The number ‘4’ sounded like ‘death’ in Cantonese which made it inauspicious. Due to this cultural interpretation, many people in this part of the world tend to avoid houses or apartments numbered ‘4’.
How do you calculate your house number?
In numerology, the vibration or energy of house number is calculated as a summation of all digits in the house number or unit number for those living in apartments.
Let’s use a random apartment number for our example: #09-04.
To calculate the house number,
Step 1: simply take add up all the digits in the unit number: 0+9+0+4 = 13,
Step 2: if you get a double digit, add up both digits.: 1+3 = 4
And, we get House 4.
So, according to numerology, is House 4 inauspicious?
Contrary to common perceptions, the number ‘4’ is not about gloom or doom. It has a grounding personality; it builds and secures. This number brings to mind the rewards of firm foundations and a secured future through diligence and effort.
My personal experience with House 4
Having lived in a House ‘4’ in both my first and second houses, my personal experiences with it are those of much hard work, committed long hours and progress. The main theme is, diligence - it does not matter if you are one. If you are one, that’s a complement. If not, well, fret not, you would become one. In a typical House 4, you are likely to see all occupants working hard - parents, children and even domestic helpers working hard. This theme of diligence, or worse, ‘workaholism’ has its occupants working for stability and security. On the whole, I saw a hardworking household which saw all members putting in their best efforts to harness the potential of progress and transformation.
Where do you see 4 in your daily life?
Before furniture design is the hype of late, tables were usually built to have four legs. You see 4 in places which need stability. You find 4 in the four main pillars of a house, 4 as in four wheels of a typical vehicle etc. The number ‘4’ brings to mind firm foundations in construction and design; stable future in House 4 occupants.
In a nutshell, 4 is certainly not what the naysayers have thought it to be. The number ‘4’ does not mean death or is in any way related to death. The number ‘4’ embodies a diligent nature and occupants of House ‘4’ reap the rewards of their effort.
What is your House number and what does it mean for your family?
Here’s a general meaning to the vibration of numbers for your interests
House 1 - new beginnings, solitude
House 2 - balance, co-operation
House 3 - creativity, self-expression
House 4 - stability, grounding
House 5 - change, adventure
House 6 - patience, love
House 7 - contemplation, self-evaluation,
House 8 - abundance, infinity
House 9 - attainment, love for community
The list provides a basic meaning to the vibration of house numbers and it is certainly not comprehensive nor exhaustive.

A new friend whom I met last year became my unofficial student. Let's call her Janice*. Janice was an interesting student to begin with. In her late forties, she has a young daughter who had attended the pricey brain training class designed by a Japanese. Despite its hefty price tag, it was a highly sought-after class among local parents with young children below the age of 6. What I found surprising during my conversations with her was, one of the main objectives of the class was Extra-sensory Perception (ESP) training, which many or most parents are unaware of.
According to Wikipedia, "Extra-sensory perception or ESP, also called sixth sense, includes reception of information not gained through the recognized physical senses but sensed with the mind."
Young children had to try methods like hot cards and predictions. As Janice was in the class with her young daughter, she learnt those methods as well. Subsequently, she became very good at hot cards, and was way much better than the trainer. Hot cards is a method in which a person picks a particular card that she has pre-determined before choosing from a row of 3 to 5 cards. I must say that Janice was pretty gifted at hot cards. I would probably not be half as good as her.
For some good 9 months in 2014, I met Janice every week as our children attended the same enrichment school. We would talk over coffee breaks and our conversations developed. ESP, meditations and such were our main discussion topics, even though she was a little afraid of what she may discover on her end. Something strange started to happen after our first conversation on symbols.
In that first conversation, I shared about symbols and synchronicity. She listened to my sharing, and perhaps half questioning what I said then. We parted and went on with our own lives for a week before we met again.
One week later.
During our coffee break, she shared something peculiar with me. She saw a pretty thick branch or rod on a grass patch one night. In the beginning, she thought it was a snake but discovered that it was not. In the same week, she also dreamt about death in one dream and about a new born in another dream. With her sharing, I revealed that snakes symbolise death and rebirth and that it matched perfectly with her dreams. Of course, being new to what I was sharing, she was skeptical. I told her to look for another "snake". The appearance of the next "snake" would affirm what she had seen or dreamt so far. It could appear anywhere. Again, we parted and went on with our own lives for a week before we met again.
Another week later.
This time, she came to me bewildered by what she had seen. She recounted how she waited for the snake for almost the whole week and felt bored keeping her eyes 'peeled' for a snake. Just before the week ended, she saw a picture of Medusa with ten snakes in the Editorial page of The Straits Times! Not one, but ten! Why not just one? Well, this was to send the message loud and clear that she didn't have to look for other snakes again! That was a lesson on synchronicity and the message was clear and precise; convincing her thoroughly.
Another week came, a new topic would surface naturally and organically, without any thoughts nor prior planning. Weeks went by and we began to realise a trend. The weekly topics discussed would be given to her as assignments by the Universe. Her progress was charted weekly! When we looked back, the sighting of those snakes and the dreams were signs and messages about a journey of transformation that she would begin with me.
Janice is, in fact, one of my 'brightest' students ever since I started to discuss and teach what I do. I hardly meet up with Janice this year as our children do not share the same time slot at the enrichment centre. However, her progress continues.
Whenever I share this story with people or even those who are into this work, some of them would ask me, "What if the Universe doesn't send the assignments?" Well, I have never thought about that. Do not doubt the Universe. The magic and energy stay on as long as the belief remains.
May this article open your eyes to your surroundings and the messages of the Universe.
With love and blessings,
* The name of this unofficial student has been changed.
I used to live in an estate with less than 100 households for 20 years. The estate has an open car park which everyone has to walk past when they enter. Having a keen eye for observations, I could remember almost all the cars and their car plate numbers.
In that estate, there was a particular old Mercedes with lacklustre gold trimmings and body colour. Despite that, it was fairly outstanding in the sea of newer cars. It has been around ever since we moved there. My siblings and I were acquainted with that family as their children and us were schoolmates.
One day in the late 1990s, when I was still in the University, I learnt that the owner of that Mercedes passed on at the age of 58. When I left the wake, his unmistakable car was parked next to the tentage. His car plate number 5899 stood out strikingly. It dawned on me then that 58 stood for the age he passed on, while 99 could mean 'final' or 'an ending'. It gave me goosebumps - the possible link between the car plate and the owner's life.
It was not until 2005 that I learnt from a numerology workshop that the number '99', among its few representations, indeed meant 'an ending' or 'accident prone'. The number was summed up as 'cessation at 58'. Upon reflections, the car plate was an old one and the owner could have had it for many years that the vibration of the number had interwoven into the owner's personal set of numbers.
If he had the chance to be more discerning with his choice of numbers, some undesirable effects could have been reduced.
In violet love and joy,
P.S: This personal account is in no way trying to show any disrespect to the family mentioned or any person or persons who might be related to this particular set of numbers mentioned in one way or another. This is just a personal first-hand experience which is used here as a case study for all those who are ready for this information.
I have never experienced the need for forgiveness so real and so close until the beginning of 2013. It was another out-of-this-world experience.
It was the Chinese New Year season then. My late grandaunt, who left us about 2 years ago, appeared in my mind at least five times. I knew there must be a good reason. That was not the first time she tried to initiate contact after her passing. Even though my late grandaunt and I were hardly in contact during her old age, she remained a caring and loving figure who played a significant role in my growing years. When I saw her fleeting appearances in my mind, I knew it signal a potential communication. I pondered a long while before I decided to let her message come through.
Her key message was unforgiveness. There was disappointment and a lack of acceptance before she passed on. Even though she was not able to talk in the last few years of her life, these feelings were in her heart. She passed on with unforgiveness. She told me that she was in another realm to learn to forgive and she will probably take between one and three years before she could move on. The message was eventually passed on to the intended person the very next day through a cousin of mine at a coincidental meeting in a coffeeshop. All these happened in 12 hours - never underestimate the Universe.
This communication showed the importance to pass on without unforgiveness. Do not trivialise self-forgiveness. It is essential to live a meaningful life now and beyond. If there is anything that you would like to do, do it. Live a life of no regrets.
In violet love and joy,
P.S: Other messages contained in the communication with my late grandaunt are omitted to protect sanctity of the whole communication.
1. Have you ever forgiven someone?
2. How long did you take to forgive that person?
3. How did you feel after that?
In the usual turn of events after a conflict or a storm, we are normally asked to forgive other people. We paused and considered. Yes, it is forgivable. Apologies were heard and accepted. And we moved on.
Did you really move on?
In conflicts of great distress, broken promises and tested integrity, we might not have moved on completely. Forgiveness was done for other people. It was superficial. We have forgotten to forgive ourselves.
Forgiveness is not something we do for others. We do it for ourselves. It truly involves the self only. Self-forgiveness is never an easy one, especially when the hurt is deep. It is worrying that self-forgiveness is sadly overlooked most of the time. And we end up carrying this burden of unforgiving self as long as we live and, sometimes, beyond.
When you forgive wholly and truly, you release yourself from a painful burden. Self-forgiveness does not mean what happened was okay, and it does not mean that person was right or should be welcome in your life. It just means you have a made peace with the pain, and are ready to let it go from within you.
How do you forgive yourself?
Self-forgiveness is a journey. For some people, it will take a short time; for others, it may be a long-drawn process. It depends on a person's character, determination and life experiences to forgive himself/herself.
Learn to look at a conflict from different perspectives, even from the other person's perspective. Comfort yourself each time you analyse the conflict again. There should be no hiding of conflict in your heart. It would be like digging a grave for self-forgiveness, and eventually it would be very difficult for you to let go. Face the conflict yourself, and very slowly, you would allow yourself to forgive within you.
'Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.'

In violet love and joy,
People whom I have met through the years had taught me a lesson or two. Interestingly, my hairstylists have played a small part in my spiritual growth.
I had a hairstylist who managed my hair for ten years. She was a good hairstylist and communicated well with her clients. Through the years, she grew a rather large clientele. Personally, I was particularly drawn to her which I did not know what it was until some time later. After the initial visits, I came to realise that every time she ran her fingers through my hair, I would feel a very warm touch that was energetically attractive. And that was the simple reason why I stayed with her for many years.
Some years ago, she passed me a card one day to accumulate mantra chants for an event. At that time, she revealed that mantra chanting was an everyday ritual and she was a devout Buddhist. From that, I gathered that her energy field was different due to her chanting rituals. For those who are sensitive to energy, you would easily know whether a person's energy is gentle, energetically-attractive or otherwise. However, years later, when she expanded her business to a considerable size, she became too involved in her work and, subsequently, lost that energetically-appealing touch. Perhaps chanting might have taken a backseat or her mind was too preoccupied with work. It was a pity how the pristine energy, which was built through the years, changed easily and quickly. And, for me, I went on to change my hairstylist for this reason unknown to her.

What are good deeds?
When is a deed good?
How do we know when we have done a good deed?
Is it right to do good deeds as the means to get what we hope for?
This entry on 'Doing good deeds' is inspired by a reader, Anne, who questioned the act of doing good deeds for achieving a conception. She had commented that such deeds are not pure and sincere to begin with. Let us explore this topic in greater detail and decide for ourselves how far a good deed can get you, if that is possible in the first place.
Broadly speaking, good deeds are defined as acts of kindness done by one being for another, without any intention of returns. The key ideas in a good deed are centered on kindness and no intention of any returns. When a deed is done out of these two ideas, we could quite firmly suggest that it is therefore good, pure and sincere.
Acts of good deed can be volunteering of time or effort, or making a monetary donations. It could be any good deeds that you think you have done. Does donating old clothes which you have no use or are trying to de-clutter constitute a good deed? This can be easily answered by the two criteria - kindness and no intention of returns. Did you fulfill them when you donated your clothes? You may not have any thoughts of having returns but you might not have donated out of kindness. You could have donated with the end focus on yourself. In this case, donating clothes becomes an act of convenience. Yes, even though the clothes may inadvertently benefit another group of beings, you have not done a deed out of kindness at the onset. In a nutshell, you did not accumulate any merits from donating clothes when there is no focus on kindness. Conversely, this whole idea of donating clothes becomes a good deed when you rummage through your cupboard for old clothes just for the sole purpose of donating to the needy. It is all done for the greater good of another being. The essence of its goodness is in the spontaneity.
The other goodness of good deeds is the continuity. A friend of mine is an amazing doer of good deeds. He volunteers his time to deliver bags of dried food to poor families every weekend and he has been doing it for many years. I salute his persistent effort for charitable causes. He goes out of the way to make doing good deeds a regular part of his lifestyle, sacrificing the time which he could enjoy in other ways.
In doing good deeds, we accumulate merits. And merits accumulated means good tidings come our way this lifetime or the next. So, can we go all out to accumulate merits to receive blessings? Absolutely YES! All of us should do good deeds - as many and as often as possible. Remember the two criteria of a good deed. If you could do a good deed as defined, the merits are perfectly and divinely yours to receive. Accumulate as much as you can. There is no downside to doing good.
However, the question centers on doing good to exchange for what we hope for. Is it right in any way? Firstly, in doing good deeds, it requires the doer to feel kindness and have no intentions of any sorts. Secondly, it is an exchange. Our life contract is written but we do have the means to change it and we have free will to decide how each path or challenge should be taken on. Like a student who can right a wrong through corrections and conscious learning, we could change our life through frequent good deeds. With merits, we could do a redemption. Accumulating merits does not mean we will definitely achieve a conception, secure a business deal or ease any physical pain. Merits accumulated is the means for an exchange to assist us in facing the challenges we have set up in our life contract. Merits pave the way for us - by reducing or clearing obstacles or by creating coincidental meetings or unknown opportunities - to make life smoother and easier. Thirdly, even though we have no intentions of any returns in doing good, good begets good after all. With the Universe working like a boomerang, your good actions can only 'boomerang' blessings your way. In goodness you sow, and so in goodness you shall reap. Have you ever noticed how your blessings mirror your deeds? Have you also noticed how little joys make life journey a more pleasant one? The little joys of locating a parking lot easily when the car park is more than full; the little joy of getting your hands on the last set of toy that your child has been waiting for; the little joy of having the rain stopped just before your barbecue. Oh, these are some of the little luck that make life joyful. Little as it may be, never forget how a straw broke a camel's back. These little joys bring a new perspective to true kindness that would change the way you see the world. In this shift of perspectives, you become grateful for all the blessings that come your way. Being grateful changes your whole energy and centers your physical being in dealing with the routine daily. By embracing gratitude, it invites the unexpected goodness into it.
May you be convinced to do more good deeds. If it is in fear that you do good, there will come a day that you would cultivate goodness to do it out of love.
In violet love and joy,
It is full moon again! Have you decided what you want to let go? It could be your fear of rejection, fear of having a different voice, self-doubt or something else that has been trapped in you for the longest time? You must start to work on it and break free. Do not give it time and space to grow in strength and influence. The longer you take to make a decisive decision and take real actions, the harder it is to break free. Hesitate no more!
Early week (Monday, Tuesday):
You are likely to be given new tasks this week. It is time to show your bosses and peers what you are made of. Try different ventures and experiences as a way to learn and grow. We never stop learning, unlearning and relearning. Hold the fortress strong and well to fend off petty comments. Give no time and thoughts to give these such comments.
Mid week (Wednesday, Thursday):
Affirm that you are worthy of all tasks given to you. Let go of small thoughts about yourself. See yourself succeeding. If you are facing any legal matters, be assured that justice will go in your favour.
Late week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday):
Blessed changes are on their way even if you do not see it. Give thanks for blessings that are on their way to you. In time to come, you will see that the week's task is a way to grow your inner strength and courage. Stay on task!
Have a blessed week ahead.
In violet love and joy,
My previous house was located near a buddhist temple which I have never visited, even though I lived in the neighbourhood for the last 18 years. We would drive past the temple from a flyover which was just next to it. The temple has a beautiful golden stupa. No drivers or passengers could ever miss it. It is especially mesmerising when it lights up against the night. My father would always show his respects whenever he drove past. This gesture caught my eye in recent years and I would do the same whenever I went past it. I have the privilege of being a passenger all the time!
And one day in 2009, the stupa responded. As usual, I would look up and admire the stupa. This time, I saw a huge Buddha statue instead of the stupa. It was a really beautiful and magnificent sight. Buddha was radiating so much golden light. It was really huge and was about three-storey high. He was in a seated position in his orange robe and was smiling. He seemed to say "Hello". My thoughts began to wander as I did not recall the temple building the statue. When I looked at it again, the statue was no longer there. Then I realised I just saw Buddha! It lasted only three seconds but that was the most spectacular moment for me. I was so happy that Buddha came by so close to say "Hello". I have not researched what this meant and most probably would never too. But I continue to reminisce the sight and thank the blessings sent my way. May you affirm his blessings and his existence after reading this.
Up to this day, I have yet to visit the temple. Maybe I should one day. As I live by the notion that temples live in my heart and not in form, I may have visited it in my heart. Likewise, you could enter and visit any temples in your heart any time. Sacredness transcends space and time.

Look at the picture I have chosen.
How do you feel looking at it?
Her smile is warm and contagious. The innocence and pure energy that she exudes are even more arresting. She is ONE with Mother Earth.
In this today's world, there is so much emphasis on character building and school grades for our children. And we assess and, sometimes, judge a child based on their character and grades. And that will be the final portrait we have of each child in our mind. Wait a moment! Did I miss out something?
Oh yes! Have you ever thought of assessing a child based on their energy? Perhaps it may not have crossed your mind. But, it may become a possibility in the future. A child could be assessed on their energy imprint. An energy imprint does not lie. It tells you the true state of a child and his/her true character. It shows the potential that lies within. With this, there may come a time when interviews of all sorts would be made redundant. No masquerade anymore.
As children are given to us as innocent beings with energy pure and clear, they are highly sensitive to the environment, words, actions and energy. Children are blank sheets for us to mould what they could become. Because of energy imprints, adults and parents need to watch the energy in their words and actions as it inadvertently shapes the children's energy. Put in sincere positive energy and you get real positive energy imprints in your children. After all, this is energy work. If you fake it, so is the energy.
